Is it just me or are we the most unpraised and used people in the music industry, the bands do there thing through managers and agents and they receive the rewards. But when it comes to promoters we are just a place and it doesnt matter how we have helped a band or agent. If a better offer comes up then anything you have done in the past for a band/agent or manager is regarded as nothing.

I work alone as a promoter and sometimes cant afford a show, think its over priced or not going to work but alas my opinion and past help is nothing when a fat cheque book and a naive promoter comes to town.

I put on shows for the bands and not the agents or managers. Even in the punk rock industry now we have a lack of loyalty. If there’s a chance of making more money on percentages promoters like me will not have a look in.

Any views on this?
Hi. Welcome back.

Now for some news:

It’s pretty obvious that I’ve been a bad blogger lately. My excuse? I’m lnot doing much and it’s hard to regularly blog about anything when your not doing much. So I won’t. I’m merely going to take a break for a few months while I find a job ,maybe turn it into something altogether different, maybe a nice pair of socks, we’ll see. In the meantime keep checking back as I’ll keep you upto date on whats happening on my life as we speak.

 Comments

Scared Of Losing My Job

I’ve started a new job working for a large company and already I get the feeling that I’m on a tightrope walking through the small amount area I have to work in without trying to annoy any bosses. Which is difficult I seem to have an inert ability to work out just how to make them wary of me with in minutes of meeting me! It must be a skill, definitely not one I want though! I reckon this could be one of those short termers where I might make it a month before I’m given the boot. Here’s hoping its not.

Whilst I’m moaning about life, I somehow managed to sit behind the loudest mobile phone talker in the world who’s favourite word must have been ‘like’ well she used it every 2nd word. I’ll give you an example of what berated my ears ‘like yeah, like the chandelier, like the black one like’. It really worries me the state of this country, all I wanted to do was get a tube of Ultraloc and superglue her mouth together. I probably would have got a standing ovation from my neighbours but also probably a court order!

Well this was an exciting introduction to the wonderful world of blogging, I hope the next time I start to write for you that its not from the comfort of my own home rather than from my office desk. We shall see where life ends up throwing me!

Jack I
